Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
