Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
